In
1996 Motorola's 3.1
ounce (88 gram) StarTAC
wearable cellular
telephone was the world's
smallest and lightest.
At the time it was
considered a miniature
marvel. How
times have changed.
Some of the earliest
models introduced in the US
were analogue whereas in
Europe the majority were GSM digital.
The CDMA digital network took
longer to introduce in the
US partly due to the massive
size and remoteness of much
of the continent.

The StarTAC was the first
clamshell phone and a very expensive dream for aspirational mobile users and is still hugely popular with collectors today.

You can see
how the products have followed an evolution from the earliest MicroTAC, the GSM
International flips, and through the StarTAC range up to the V3 Razr of today:

All of the
StarTACs we have for sale are thoroughly tested. Spares and new batteries can still be found easily from
most online retailers.
These phones are very durable and reliable.
We also have
a very limited stock of the
Jaguar StarTAC.

These were
fitted as original equipment to all 1998 to
2000 year models of XJ8, XK8, XKR with integrated hands free and 'S' type with
voice activated system. These
handsets are very rare and sought after.
These phones have the Jaguar Software upgrade and will enable all of the in-car
features. Standard StarTAC phones will not have these functions.
The Jaguar StarTAC functions on the GSM 900 band and will work with Vodafone and
O2 simcards.
The
Jaguar StarTAC comes with slim battery plus extra high capacity battery
and charger.
