Mobile phones have been with us for less than 25 years, but already the early models have achieved cult status and are prized by collectors.

All early mobile phones fall into two categories: The earliest used the ANALOGUE system whilst later European models used GSM DIGITAL technology (the system still used today)
Analogue mobile phones can no longer be used in the UK as the networks were switched off in 2001. These phones may still be used in some areas of the USA but networks are reluctant to make new analogue connections. All GSM digital phones can still be used today although some may be limited to certain service providers. For example, GSM 900 band phones can only be used with Vodafone & O2.
