The
Motorola 1000 'Autotelefon' is
something of a rarity - a large transportable phone which
uses GSM digital technology. All
of the early transportable
phones were analogue dinosaurs.
This Motorola International
series is the only 'transportable'
that can still be used today.
Originally they were sold in
Germany and had a detachable
transmitter section which could be fitted as
a car telephone. They also
had a battery pack and could be
used as a hand-portable. This model
dates from 1991 and continued for
a few years in different forms
as the 2000, 2200 and 2700.
